Crem is the Italian coffee equipment manufacturer with the most extensive product range. Located in Gandia Valencia, Crem has produced coffee machines for more than twenty years including the brand Expobar. Expobar was the first-to-market with a sub-$1,000 commercial quality heat exchanger espresso machine for semi-professional and home use.
The importance of the introduction of the Expobar line lies in the design characteristics of true-semi-professional machines. Semi-professional coffee brewing machines, like those from Expobar, have a heat-exchanger built into the boiler. This allows the user to brew a beverage and simultaneously steam milk. In standard consumer machines, the user has to perform one operation and then the other, i.e. brewing first, then letting the machine continue heating to steam temperature and vice-versa.
The heat exchanger used in the Expobar Megacrem is perfectly matched to the size of the group head. This results in consistent temperature maintenance. In addition, the water path ends in a full-sized commercial brew group, so the maximum surface area of the coffee is exposed to the water. The group head has a thermal siphon built-in, to keep hot water circulating through the brew group even when not in use. This maintains the correct temperature and avoids the needs to pre-heat the machine. The steam wand is another well-designed feature of the Megacrem. Its generous height and length, as well as a ball-joint attachment (on some models), allows it to be used with any sized pitcher. Expobars are also designed with a three-way solenoid valve, a copper boiler, and electronic boiler refill control.
